Old Fourth Ward
The Old Fourth Ward, or O4W as we like to call it, is steeped in history. The Old Fourth Ward encompasses the Martin Luther King Jr Historic Site, Ponce City Market, the Historic Old Fourth Ward Park, and the most popular section of the Beltline. In the years since the Beltline was first announced, the O4W has seen amazing transformation. It’s gone from a very run down area with a high crime rates to one of the most sought after neighborhoods in the city.
O4W is broken down into 4 neighborhood associations.
Fourth Ward Alliance which encompasses Ponce City Market and the Old Fourth Ward Park has seen the most recent and fastest growth. This area is becoming known for it's modern homes and plethora of apartment buildings. Walkability is high in this quadrant and prices are too.
Not to be outdone, Fourth Ward Neighbors is a smaller area, but borders on Inman Park and Krog Street Market. It has great walkability also, as well as a mix of modern and old houses from the early 1900s.
Fourth Ward West is just starting to make strides in transitioning and is a great place to live for those who want easy access to downtown and Midtown and slightly lower prices than the eastern quadrants. With new initiatives to improve Boulevard, this area has nowhere to go but up.
Finally, Fourth and S.A.N.D. (also known as Sweet Auburn Neighborhood District) includes the Edgewood entertainment area, MLK Jr Historic Site, the Atlanta street car and Sweet Auburn Curb Market.
